Charles Mubiru and Andrew Ankunda grabbed the limelight in the year ender at the Entebbe Club as both players won the Nkata Memorial and Castle Lite Grand Mug of Mugs respectively.
Mubiru, playing off handicap 8 beat a strong field of 107 golfers returning with the best score of 69 nett on count back to claim the 10th edition of the Nkata Memorial while Ankunda, claimed the Castle Lite Grand Mug of Mugs with a similar score.
The one day tournament had players contesting for two crowns over 18 holes at the oldest club in the country which had a display of fireworks on the night as the curtain closed on a great 2016 golfing season .
Former national rugby coach Peter Magona, claimed the Group A category with 82 nett on count back with Jude Ochieng winning Group B with 71 nett while Jacob Byamukama, was the best player in group C winning with a score of 78 nett.
Anne Abeja was the ladies winner with 73 nett while Techese Zergaber was the men’s seniors’ winner with 76 nett.
Mubiru was back on the podium to also claim the Guest winner’s crown.
The club also the overall winners of the Castle Lite Mugs Golf series with Alex Nkuyahaga claiming the men’s crown with 908 nett over 12 mugs while overall winner Ladies was taken by Pamela Tumusiime who had 760 nett over 10 mugs and at the same time win herself together with Nkuyahaga a Castle Lite branded Golf bag.
