Otile makes history at Uganda Amateur Golf Championship open 2018

Ronald Otile completed a hatrick of wins at the 76th Castle Lite Uganda Amateur Open Golf Championships at the par 71 Entebbe  Club course with a final round of 1 over par 285 over 4 days of action.
En-route to his pulsating victory the South African based golfer registered birdies on hole 14, 15, 16, 18 for a day’s round of 284 and end with a 1 stroke victory over Kenya’s Edwin Mudanyi 68 and John Karichu 72.
“I didn’t give up even when I was chasing the game with five strokes,” Otile said. “It was a perfect birthday for me winning this tournament this one is sweeter than the last two I won.”
Otile now has won the tournament for the third time having previously claimed the 2015 and 2016 editions and finishing runner up last year in a play off with Ronald Rugumayo.
John Karichu who finished tied for second was graceful in defeat.
“Otile played well and fought had to win it. I missed my game when my ball went OB on hole 15 that was the game changer after that I didn’t recover,” Karichu said.
“I will try again next year but as a professional this time around.”

The 4 day tournament was sponsored by Flag sponsors Castle Lite and co sponsored by Barclays Bank, CBA Uganda, Gems Cambridge Inter School, Britam Insurance, Minet,  Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, Time Cop
